Baddeleyite mineralization of ultramafic rocks from the main Urals collisional suture (Ufaley metamorphic block, Central Urals)

Baddeleyite from ultramafc rocks of the kurta eclogite-schist megamélange (Ufaley metamor-phic block, Central Urals) is studied. The zirconium mineralization is established in Ni-bearing for-sterite and magnetite-forsterite rocks, which were replaced by ON-titanclinohumite and clinochlore. The chemical composition of minerals from the baddeleyite-bearing ultramafc rocks is given, as well as description of alteration products of baddeleyite: zircon, zirconolite and hydrobaddeleyite. The unique Mn-bearing picroilmenite (15–16 mol. % of pyrophanite) was found for the frst time in apoforsterite metasomatites. Further studies of baddeleyite ultramafc rocks as possible source of high-quality zirconium concentrates are necessary.
